[A short beat.]

I would welcome the answer not being paperwork.

Not at all. I am planning a ... gathering of sorts, and I need some... help, taking stock - as well as transporting. I thought who better to ask but our own Quartermaster?

[thorndergod]

Ah!

[His tone audibly brightens.]

I would be glad to assist. Would it be easier for me to meet you somewhere, or for you to come to my office?

[shri]

Your office suits well enough, I can head there presently.

[thorndergod]

Excellent. I will try to fit another chair into the space!

[shri]

[ A little while later, there she is, sticking her head in and knocking on the door. ]

Quartermaster.

[thorndergod]

My lady, come in.

[He smiles brightly at her, and sure enough there's a second chair barely fitting in the corner opposite his. The papers he'd been working on he piles tidily up so he can turn his full, blinding-smile attention on her.]

Stock and transport, you said. Food? Drinks? Other things?

[shri]

Mm.

[ She takes her seat - not so fussed in his company. He always seems a straight forward kind. Direct and open. She liked that, always did.

Didn't help he was easy on the eyes. ]

I am planning a party. A big one. Not that I am here to beg coin off you. I was after perhaps some suppliers you know that deal fairly. Then your spare hands and if someone of your men can be spared hauling it in.

[It's... probably good she's not here for coin, because he's not certain he can actually provide coin for a party through Inquisition means. What she's asking is easy, though, thankfully. Thor grabs a scrap piece of parchment.]

The first two names you will want to send someone who is neither Rifter nor mage to. They care for the Inquisition's cause but do not care for your sort or mine.

[He shakes his head. The South was backward at inconvenient times.]

The other three are honest. And I can of course offer myself and most of the men of my household to help! We have four male servants.

[Who are finally ones who know how to take orders properly, which she probably understands.]

They will assist us. When is the party?

In a few more weeks.

[ She eyes the list, noting what he says about the names, and with it, she begins taking her own notes in a book it seems she has just for these sorts of tasks. Though her words are all written in Devanagari letters, that mix of hindi and maratha as she needs it. ]

I certainly would not want to turn down the extra men. If nothing else, to hang decorations.

Then you shall have them, my lady. Is there anything else I can do for you?

[He glances at the notebook. Whatever she's writing in is unknown to him, though that's not entirely a surprise. She's a Rifter.]

What language is that?

[ Briefly, Lakshmi looks down at her hands. Only half realising what she was doing to that end. ]

The tongue of my home. Hindi, Marathi, some Farsi.

[ It's given with a mildly laughed shrug. ]

[The letters curve and join in interesting ways. If they were not at war, Thor might be curious enough to learn. But they are, so there is no time for something that will not help the effort.]

I have not seen its like. Are there many things you keep of your home?

[He's not as far from his as she is hers, but he can't deny being homesick sometimes. It must be worse for the Rifters, even if their homes are not currently occupied by enemy forces.]

Some, [ she lifts her hand holding the quill, shifting back and forth in a wobbly maybe. ]

Though most of it is no more than stories that I may share with others, were they willing.
